Open Spatial Inc announces the release of Munsys Monitor and Munsys
Archive
Powerful tools to track edits and manage archived data in
Oracle
Clearwater, Florida, November 28, 2005 - Open
Spatial Inc today announced the release of Munsys
Monitor and Munsys Archive - two powerful new tools that assist in
the management of asset information stored in Oracle databases created
with the Munsys asset mapping software.
Munsys Monitor is an administrative application
that enables transaction logging and reporting on spatial tables in
the Munsys schema. The recorded transactions include the creation of
new assets (INSERT), changes to existing assets (UPDATE), and removing
of redundant assets (DELETE). Munsys Monitor provides an interface
for the administrator to configure and manage triggers in the Oracle
database which are fired on insert, update and delete operations irrespective
of the application that is used.
The monitor log tracks which users
updated what utility data and when. The administrator can view and
report on the monitor logs. These reports can be generated on a per-user,
per-table, or per-transaction type basis. User login information
is also recorded by Munsys Monitor allowing managers to monitor performance,
software usage, productivity, and to schedule personnel training
accordingly.
The date stamp feature offered in Munsys Monitor is very useful in
determining what updates were posted to the database on or after specified
dates. This is especially convenient if a manager is required to identify
assets captured or modified in specific years or time frames for reporting
purposes.
Munsys Archive provides administrators the functionality
to selectively manage archived records which retains spatial and attribute
information for objects that have been deleted from a Munsys schema.
The administrator can define which spatial tables will be placed under
archive management. Archiving can easily be toggled on or off per table
at selected times such as when batch updates are being performed.
Munsys Archive is effective for two critical functions:
- Selectively recovering accidentally deleted records without having
to recover an entire backup and lose all the current changes. With
Munsys Archive, you can easily go back weeks later to recover records
deleted in error.
- Comparing changes over time. With the Archive feature managers can
actively monitor changes. For example, edits on the infrastructure
and parcel base data can be mapped to show where changes have occurred
during the past year.
Munsys Monitor and Munsys Archive extend the "DBA in a Box" functionality
provided by the Munsys Administrator. Years of Oracle experience and
training are no longer required to implement a sophisticated Oracle
solution. Even novice Oracle users can create and manage a Munsys database
schema. This permits the asset manager to move forward quickly and
efficiently with a central spatial database to manage infrastructure
information.
